The Elland Silver Band Slow Melody and Quartet Contest has been running for over 10 years, attracting over 60 competitors each year. Over the years contestants have travelled from across the country to come and take part in the tradtional contest to perform their unaccompanied Slow Melody. Traditionally, a "Slow Melody" should piece a song, aria or ballad to illustrate the performers lyrical ability and tonal quality. Examples of a traditional slow melody are: |

| This year's competition includes 5 Slow Melody Sections plus 2 Quartet Sections. Annual trophies are awarded to the winners of each category plus 2nd and 3rd prize winners receive a keep sake trophy. | ||||
